[SP] A spontaneous moment of paranormal precognition is simultaneously experienced globally & every living person suddenly knows exactly how, but not when, they will die
Every person on Earth blinked simultaneously. They would never realize the mass synchronicity that occurred, in part due to the new knowledge they all shared. Across the world, friends and family looked at each other, unsure. Those lonely and alone had to find a way to make peace with the sudden information.
They weren't idle thoughts, nor vivid daydreams; it was a solid knowing. A clarity they felt in their body and soul, some of them could almost feel the ghostly sensations of what they knew would happen. As sure as 2 + 2 was 4, each and every person had a deep understanding of how they would pass, without having an idea of when.
"Hey, me too," Moe did his best to comfort his girlfriend. They were both in bed, about to start their morning, when the spontaneous knowing happened to everyone. She revealed her death, and his was similar. They were both expecting to be crushed by a building. He pulled her closer and kissed her head. "Who knows, maybe we'll die together!" he laughed.
"Not funny," Debbie shook her head. And, at the same moment, her phone chimed with a notification. "It's my mother," she sighed and turned to hop off the bed. She wandered out of the bedroom while she returned the call.
Moe was already awake, but didn't have to be anywhere yet. He reached over and checked his own phone, which he kept on silent throughout the night. Both of his parents had long passed, and Debbie was the only important person he received calls from. And, he was surprised to see several missed messages from friends. He sat up more attentively when he noticed one of the messages said, 'Bro, I know how I'm going to die.'
He looked up in time to see Debbie walking back into the room with a notepad. She was still on the phone and trying to calm her mother down about something.
'She knows how she's going to die!!' was scribbled on the sheets as she shoved the notepad at him, and Moe nodded as he showed her the text. The two of them looked at each other, more worried now. It wasn't just them. That made it a much more serious matter. Debbie sat on the bed next to Moe, and he wrapped his arms around her as she kept reassuring her mother that everything was fine.
Far away from Moe and Debbie's city, high up on a distant mountain, three figures stand watching the Earth. Ballisea, A tall, pale woman with bone white ram horns. Quinn, a shorter young woman with white hair and orange underlights, and finally Flutter. A towering, 9-foot-tall, muscular woman with flaming red-orange hair.
"Okay," Quinn nodded. "They all know how, without knowing when. If that's all the time stuff you need, can I leave?" she asked.
"You may," Ballisea nodded at her. "I'm sure I'll require you again soon. I'm enjoying these temporal twists to my games."
"'Kay," Quinn nodded and left through a black portal.
"That's a new one to me," Flutter said. "Why let them know how they're going to die and not when?"
"Humans are so amazing and entertaining," Ballisea grinned. "Their brains absolutely excel at pattern recognition, to a fault, really," she added with a small giggle. "There is a brief, but glorious moment of acceptance when a human realizes they're about to die. I was curious about making a whole world feel like that. And what better way than to instill in them the knowledge of how they'll die? When that moment finally comes, there'll be no questions, and it'll make their acceptance that much easier. I'm granting them a kindness," she smiled.
"Besides," she added. "It might dampen their mood too much if they all realized that today would be that day. Let's get started with a big shake-up. Go on down and give the planet a tap to kick things off," she said as she opened a portal for Flutter.
The giant woman walked through it and emerged on a random city street. Cars honked, but she wouldn't be there for long. She knelt with speed and gave the blacktop a quick, light punch.
The Earth shook. Cracks spidered forward and back, then a chasm opened. A tall apartment building, home residence of Moe and his girlfriend Debbie, near Flutter wasn't strong enough to handle the shockwave, and it started crumbling only moments before it collapsed. Flutter was gone before the building landed in a cloud of dust and rubble.
Then, all across the world, skeletons began to rain from the sky.
